Gabriel Dias
I am Gabriel Dias. I have worked in software engineering since 2016, today at Woovi, at the intersection of payment infrastructure and applied AI. Before that I went through public health, food service, agribusiness and more than one payment institution.
The thread tying all of it together is the kind of system involved: the ones that cannot go down. PIX moving R$ 15 billion a month, a health platform serving 30 million Brazilians, an app with 8 million monthly users. In those places the difference between a good architecture and an optimistic one shows up fast, and it shows up at 3am.
I started writing and recording because I noticed the hard part of our work is almost never the part that makes it into tutorials. The tutorial shows the happy path; the job is everything that happens when the happy path does not.
Two things I defend stubbornly. First, a number without a source is worth nothing: if I write that something improved by 40%, I need to know how it was measured, otherwise it is a story. Second, simplicity is an expensive decision, and almost always the right one. Much of what I have seen break in production broke because of an abstraction someone found elegant on a Thursday afternoon.

A type-safe ORM for Go, open source. It came out of five production projects with GORM and ENT: weak type safety knocking things over at runtime, hidden N+1 queries and migrations turning into incidents. The bet is code generation instead of reflection.

e-SUS and Meu SUS Digital, platforms serving more than 30 million Brazilians, with a team of 87 people. That is where I learned real scale has consequences: a peak of 2 million simultaneous bookings during the vaccination campaign does not forgive an optimistic architecture.

Full-stack and mobile in Uberlândia, migrating a legacy Delphi system to the web, native iOS at Consorciei, and MeFirst, which I co-founded and where I was CTO: 15 vocational courses for 2 thousand people in vulnerable situations.
